C02 Fire Suppression Systems

A high pressure C02 system is a specialized, engineered fire extinguishing system. The cylinders contain the C02 required to protect the largest single hazard. On large hazards where several cylinders are required, a manifold is used to connect each cylinder by means of flexible hoses and check valves. Cylinder valves control the C02 flow to the hazard through properly sized pipe, terminating in nozzles that apply the C02. Flow rate is controlled by nozzle orifices as well as pipe sizes. The cylinder valves are electronically operated and the valves are pressure actuated. The master valves can be automatically and/or manually operated.

C02 Fire Suppression Systems are highly effective at suppressing fires and are appropriate for some engine rooms, flammable liquid storage rooms, and around large industrial machines. While C02 fire suppression systems are highly effective at putting fires out, the C02 agent can be deadly to humans. For this reason, you’ll find C02 fire suppression systems most often in non-occupied environments.
