Fire Hose Inspections

Proper maintenance of fire hoses during annual inspections is required for U.S. businesses and Fire Departments. Why? Fire hoses must operate as designed when fire strikes. Therefore, it is important to understand a few basics of fire hose inspections and what is required to ensure that your fire hoses are ready at all times. Check out some basics of fire hose inspections and repeat preventative maintenance (RPM) steps below. Industrial Fire can help you simplify your compliance and give you peace of mind with your fire hoses

ANNUAL INSPECTIONS & REPEAT PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE (RPM)

Annual inspections are the minimum requirement. NFPA requires that maintenance on every fire hose at your facility and your vehicles be completed on an annual basis. This maintenance includes an annual external examination of the entire hose. The means removing the hose from the rack and completely unrolling it. Then we perform a thorough visual of the entire hose. After checking the entire hose, then we pay special attention to couplings and nozzles.

ADDITIONAL REPEAT PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE (RPM)

5-YEAR HYDROSTATIC TEST

  • The hydrostatic test is required every five years for fire hoses
